Day One –October 15th, 2012-Aprile

The day dawned dark and ominous and we all awoke as grumpy and moody as the weather. Our departure was delayed because several of the group was slow to finish packing and loading their items. Finally, the large transport (call sign; Square Lemon) was loaded and we were ready to head out. The smaller conveyance (call sign; HMS Beagle) took the lead and advanced our small caravan forward. Leaving Quantico behind was very emotional as it had become our home and a familiar place to our hearts. It was very hard to leave the ministries behind that we had worked so hard to foster. But we are confident the Lord has great plans for Quantico and the ministries we were honored to be a part of. Despite poor weather and heavy traffic leaving Quantico, everyone managed to settle down for the ride. As always in such a journey, some of my travelling companions are more to be desired than others. However, I am sure that all of my companions will add to the adventure of the journey. As we drove through the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains we were heralded by the beautiful autumn colors along our route. It was not long before the sun came out and allowed us the joy of seeing the mountains in their full splendor as we farewelled Virginia. After a somewhat circuitous route, led by our guide (a.k.a the GPS), and several stops (related to aforementioned travelling companions), we finally arrived at our destination for the night in Wytheville, Virginia. Tomorrow, we will head across the Appalachian Mountains to Louisville, KY. I am excited to tour the Hatfield and McCoy Territory and see the land where Daniel Boone once roamed.

Packing, Packing and Boxes!

The packing is all done and we are living in a maze of boxes. The last two days were much less stressful than the ones before. I always hate the last minute scramble to make sure that everything is in order.
Of course one person in a family of 5 always forgets to separate something. This time it was Paul, he forgot to remove his uniforms, suits and other clothes from the closet. So, now they are all well packed and he is going to have to spend time trying to find which box they are in…LOL!
Tomorrow, we are headed out to enjoy our last field trip in DC. We are headed to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Look out for some pictures of our family having fun out and about. The Movers will pack the house up on Tuesday and Friday we will turn the house back over to Lincoln Military housing. We still do not have a house to San Diego, we are trusting the Lord to provide just the right home for us.

Cleaning, Organizing and Packing!

We are in the process of cleaning, organizing and packing for the move. It is amazing all we accumulate in just a few years. I spent all day yesterday working on the Den. I dusted, polished all my african carvings, sorted my desk and generally threw things out. Today, I am finishing the den and then starting on the living room. Right now, it feels like a never ending process. BUT, I know that in 7 days the packers will be here to start boxing everything up. Please pray for me as right now I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.
